I'm Marjie Kemper and I'm wild about color. I love blending colors and building layers of depth, texture, and dimension.
I'm a Certified Ranger Educator and I work primarily with Ranger's Distress products (Distress Inks, Distress Oxide Inks, and Distress Stains are three of my favorites). That said, I encourage students to work with what's on hand.
Visit me at www.marjiekemper.com to learn more about my style or follow me on Instagram (@marjiekemper).
You'll learn how to create wonderful and whimsical 3-dimensional Artist Trading Cards and Artist Trading Coins. We'll go through step-by-step mixed media art techniques working through ten Categories of content. Each category consists of multiple lessons.
Categories include ATC Surfaces, Working with Wet & Dry Inks, Color Blending, Creating Depth and Dimension,Tantalizing Textures, Stamping Tips & Tricks, Stenciling Tips & Tricks, Embossing & Faux Finishes, Collage Assembly, and Quick & Easy Embellishments.
The class begins on February 1. You'll be emailed log-in instructions to access all the materials on Thinkific, which is my favorite online course platform. I've taught many courses online there and I love the ease of use of their site.
Our private Facebook Group will be active from February 1-28. After that, the live interaction with the teacher ends. Note that you may access the course materials whenever you like, after the live course period ends.
The sky's the limit regarding the different supplies you can use in this class.
There are soooo many ways to create depth and texture on your cards.
Even old supplies look new when used in interesting ways on small surfaces.
These ATCs are kind of addictive... consider yourself warned!
The class is delivered in a series of video lessons that you'll access online. I will host the videos on the class website for 365 days. You may download them and keep them forever if you wish, and watch them as many times as you like.
You'll also receive an eBook full of shape templates that you can copy and resize to fit your own projects. I'll share loads of different Artist Trading Card and Artist Trading Coin samples and show you how I create them. This class is technique-heavy.
We will also enjoy our Private Facebook Group for the whole month of September. Share your projects, meet others who share the same interest, and ask any questions that arise. I will be active in the group for the entire month.
I donate a portion of every class purchase to a KIVA loan which is extended to a female entrepreneur in a variety of different countries.
So far my students and I have supported multiple female entrepreneurs who work as artists, sewists, and farmers in Cambodia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Samoa, Uganda, USA, and Vietnam!
KIVA a 501(c)3 U.S. nonprofit that manages small loans in the amount of $25 and up. The entire amount of the loan goes to the intended recipient.
After the loans are repaid (they have a nearly 97% repayment rate!) the hope is that you will loan the amount again, to another individual or group.
Is this class right for me?
This class will benefit anyone who wants to improve their understanding of mixed media art techniques. We will cover techniques such as Stamping, Stenciling, Texturizing, Embossing, Creating Faux Finishes, Resists, Image Transfers, Collage, Painting, and Embellishing.
You will have access to a private Facebook Group where you can share your work and connect with others who enjoy this fun (and addictive) practice of creating ATCs. Many people like to form swap groups and trade their ATCs, and it won't surprise me if All About ATCs students do this with other class members.
Do I need a lot of supplies?
Absolutely not. I encourage you to use what you have on hand. That said, there are some techniques that are truly and explicitly product-driven, meaning you will not achieve the same results if you use another product that has a different chemical formula. (For instance, dye inks are verrrrrry different than pigment inks.) I will supply a list of products you may want to consider, but know that I heartily encourage you to use substitutes when possible.
That said, I am a Certified Ranger Educator, and I use a great many of their products. Some of the products used in this class are Distress Inks, Dylusions Ink Sprays, and Distress Stains. See the recommended supply list here. It's also a good idea to start collecting small things that you can use to embellish your projects. I like to designate a basket or box when I take a class, and toss things into it as I come across them.
How Much Does The Class Cost?
The class cost is a single payment of $99 or a payment plan consisting of two payments of $55 each ($110). Early bird discounts are only available for single payment purchases.
Payment plan users are charged the first payment at time of purchase, and automatically billed for the second payment 30 days later. Again, early bird discounts are not valid on payment plan purchases.
Can I Share this Course?
No. You are purchasing a single-use class and you may not share the class content or your unique log-in information with anyone.
Is there a Refund Policy?
Yes. If you’re not satisfied with the course after 14 days, email a refund request. You'll be asked to show your work, so I know you gave it a fair go.
How long do I have to complete the class?
Take as much time as you need. There’s absolutely no fixed schedule, time limit or deadline. You can watch the lessons whenever you like, as many times as you like, on your own timeable. You will have 365 days to download the materials should you wish to keep the forever. The only 'live' component of the class is the private Facebook Group, which will be actively monitored for the month of February 2020.
What if I have questions or need support?
Within minutes of enrollment, you’ll receive three emails: (1) a receipt, (2) a brief email with log-in credentials to use once the course is live, and (3) a longer email with details on how best to contact me for questions about the coursework, or the technical support team for any system (online access or performance) issues.
You will also be able to ask questions in our private Facebook community for the entire month of February 2020.
